Elizabeth Rhodes, a member of Local 838 in Kansas City, eloquently put into a dramatic reading some of the struggle that CUE-Teamsters Local 2010 members have been wrestling with during their bargaining for a contract.

The 14,000 employees of the University of California, who work as clerical, administrative assistants and related personnel in the 11 university campuses, have been bargaining for more than two years to reach agreement with the university on a collective bargaining agreement. In May 2010, 81 percent of the voting members of CUE chose to affiliate with the Teamsters, creating CUE-Teamsters Local 2010.

Rhodes visited a planning meeting with CUE-Teamsters Local 2010 leaders and activists in Los Angeles and crafted this soliloquy as a tribute to their contract struggle.
